Tradition, Innovation and Sustainability – The Current State, Potential and Perspectives of the Food Industry in Croatia
The food industry in the Republic of Croatia is facing numerous challenges, including a shortage of raw materials, especially domestic ones, a lack of qualified workforce, increasing demands for sustainable production, a high share of imported food, and the need to maintain competitiveness in both price and quality in an increasingly demanding market. At the same time, domestic consumers seek both traditional and innovative products; however, price often plays a decisive role in their purchasing decisions. This round table, held in Croatian and featuring presentations of good practice examples, will address ways to reconcile these challenges, identify areas with innovation potential, and explore how to remain resilient, successful, and profitable.
Participants in the round table include experts from the food industry and the IT sector: Aleksandra Samardžija (Naturala d.o.o., Member of the Management Board, Food Technologist), Jelena Đugum (Croatian Chamber of Economy, Director of the Agriculture Sector, Food Technologist), Matija Žulj (AGRIVI, Chief Executive Officer, IT Specialist), Sven Perec (OPG Perec – Sweet Potato Production and Processing, IT Specialist), Karlo Würth (Zvijezda plus d.o.o., Head of Research and Development, Food Technologist) and Robert Piskač (Fragaria d.o.o., Production Director, Food Technologist).
